MUSICAL THEATRE AT NORTH HASTINGS HIGH SCHOOL

The Director: Allison Jowett

Allison discovered her passion for theatre when she would present lip-synching performances to her friends and family when she was in grade three. She took part in many school productions during her high school career. These productions included Sherlock Holmes and the Wizard of Oz. She also was part of the touring drama production that travelled to Prince Edward Island. Allison furthered her dramatic arts by going to the University of Waterloo to become a Drama Teacher.  While at Waterloo, Allison played Narrator 2- Willie, in the play Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde.

When Allison moved to Bancroft in 2004, she became very involved in community theatre. She was part of shows like Cabaret, 24-hour theatre, and Random Acts. Allison is also known for being the North Hasting High School Improv Coach, along with Kate Cockburn. Jowett directed the 2008 production of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers with Kate Cockburn.

Allison has high hopes for this year’s cast. She believes that our cast has strong experienced students that will help multiply the number of newcomers. She would like to see her experienced students be role models, ones that the new students can look to for advice, encouragement, and help during this production. Allison has taught Music Theatre before but also has had students from past productions in her drama classes. She decided to take on the role of director this year again because she enjoyed directing Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Allison looks forward to working with Mary Burbidge because Mary has great music abilities and knowledge of musicals that will help make this show fantastic.
